Is There an Inner Tyrant in Your life?

Does your Inner Tyrant make you feel deflated, stupid, sad, ugly, rubbish, useless, boring, unlovable...? Do you have an inner voice that second guesses all that you do, sharing its perspective on how terrible your decisions and actions are? Do you have a feeling of somehow not being enough, not being OK? You may be under the thumb of your very own Inner Tyrant.

Our Inner Critic can be a deeply familiar voice or a feeling of not being enough that we unquestioningly listen to and believe in. Perhaps we are so used to our Inner Critic that we don't realise that this is just one perspective. Often it is no more than an internalised voice from our past. Imagine if a friend followed you around commentating on how useless you are, how much everyone dislikes you, how stupid what you just said was. Would you continue to spend time with them? 

Yet many of us allow our Inner Critic to terrorise us, eroding our self-confidence and building up a constant sense of our being 
Not Good Enough.

In this workshop we will explore through talks, discussion, and experiential mindfulness exercises the patterns of your own Inner Tyrant. We will look at common types of Inner Critic, as well as time-honoured skilful and caring ways of counter-acting them.

Learn how to take the power out of your Inner Critic, to turn that part of yourself into a force for Inner Care, and free yourself and your life from inner tyranny.

With simple mindfulness practices you will learn to tune in and get close to your Inner Critic. You will get familiar with what that part of yourself is trying to do. What out-dated strategies is it still using that helped to keep you safe and loved when you were a little one, even though they are no longer helpful. Indeed, are often painfully unhelpful.
